Dragon

After a nationwide application process earlier this year, Meet the Dragons (a Dragons Den-style nationwide search sponsored by the Royal Society of Arts) attracted over 140 innovators with projects to find new ways of delivering support and solutions to better fit people’s future needs.

Following the lead of Dragons’ Den, the hugely successful TV entrepreneurial talent show, five projects, including ‘dosh’, were short listed and went before a panel of experts to vie for funding and mentoring from top development agencies.

Meet the Dragons, devised by the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) and a group of social care leaders known as the Learning Set, was a radical new way of encouraging change in public services. The panel of dragons were Matthew Taylor, the RSA’s chief executive; Lady Pitkeathley, the Labour peer and social care doyenne; David Behan, the director general of social care at the Department of Health and Kristina Murrin, the chair of the ?What If! Social Innovation Foundation.
