Financial Advocacy

- Work closely with you and your circle of support, offering direct support which is needed to be manage benefits and money.
- Conduct a Benefits Assessment that lets you know what benefits can be claimed.
- Check the money system that supports you.
- Check that your money is safe.
- Check that you are fully involved in decisions about your money.
- Join your circle of support to help them make informed money decisions and plans.
- Work with you and your circle of support to appeal decisions by the Department of Work and Pensions and/or the Housing Benefit Department.

Other responsibilities of a ‘dosh’ Financial Advocate include making sure your Appointee knows of any changes in your circumstances. For example, if you:
- change your address,
- change your name,
- get married,
- have a child leaving school,
- go into or come out of hospital, including coming out of hospital on leave,
- are able to manage your own finances,
